Day 83 and 84
September 29 and 30, 2008
Winnemucca RV Park on the 29th
Drove to the entrance to Yosemite National Park, California
Spent the night in the parking lot of the Visitor's Center on the 30th
Merrell and Chuck got the part put on the RV on Monday and after some fine tuning and a call to a mechanic buddy (my friend Charlene's husband Eddie is a mechanic and he also happens to be a distant cousin on the Lilly and Shrewsberry side) we left to continue our adventures on the morning of the 30th. Once again we were on long straight stretches of road with nothing but mountains and brown fields as far as the eye could see. There was a couple of times that we ran into areas that were irrigating their fields and it was so nice to see some green amongst all of the brown. There were very few trees, but LOTS of sagebrush!!! We got to the Yosemite Park area late in the evening, so we stayed in the Visitor's Center Parking Lot overnight and will go into Yosemite tomorrow (well, actually today since I am posting this AFTER we went through the park, LOL)
I thought we were on Mars again in this picture. The mountains on our drive from Nevada to California were never ending. There were mountain ranges as far as you could see on either side and in front and to the back.
This isn't the best picture because I took it out of the drivers side window as we were driving through Fallon, NV. I just caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of my eye. I love Victorian houses and this one was beautiful, even if it was pink!!! It looks like a castle.............
Fields of Sage Brush and brown mountain ranges in the distance.
Yeah!! We finally found a green field. This area was heavily irrigated, but just as soon as we left that area, everything was brown again.
We finally saw a few houses and this one had some horses grazing on the brown "grass"!!!
More of the brown mountains and desert, with some sagebrush thrown in for good measure!!
The sky was beautiful all day. It was so blue and with the fluffy white clouds, it was awesome.
Some of the Nevada Landscape. At least we finally found a few trees.
Walker Lake, Nevada
Mono Lake close to Lee Vinings, California.
Another view of Mono Lake in California. We aren't sure what the white stuff is. I'm sure it's sand or rock, but we were too far away to tell.
Another view of the white "stuff" at Mono Lake in California. We were just happy to finally see water and some "COLOR" after all of the brown we saw on our drive.
Now, I'm sure all of you remember that I posted a picture of myself in curlers, right?? Well, the curlers are out, the makeup is on and I'm ready to rock and roll!!! Teeheehee
Have a good one,
Love, US
